The first records of the wine cellar in the village of Tabor date back to 1224, confirming the rich winemaking tradition of this region. Even today, we carefully preserve selected wines in this historic cellar, where they mature in the unique atmosphere of stone chambers, maintaining an authentic connection between tradition, history, and the finest wines of the Vipava Valley.
Davorin Slejko, a native of Zalošče, began his winemaking journey in 1982 and introduced the Vina Dornberg brand in 2005. Through dedication and hard work in both the vineyards and the cellar, he created distinctive premium wines that have earned recognition both in Slovenia and abroad.
Today, his son, Sandi Slejko, proudly continues the family tradition by managing the winery and vineyards while preserving the family's commitment to producing exceptional wines.
All of our vineyards are managed according to the principles of integrated viticulture, an environmentally friendly approach to grape growing.
Integrated grape production is based on natural and sustainable farming practices, with great respect for both the environment and the vineyards.
The use of mineral fertilizers and most plant protection products is prohibited. Instead, the vineyards are cultivated primarily with organic fertilizers and natural plant-based preparations. The use of sulfur and copper is strictly limited.
The winemaking process in the cellar also follows the most natural approach possible. Fermentation is carried out using our own indigenous yeasts, without the addition of artificial additives, tannins, or products intended to alter the wine's flavor.

An award for an innovative presentation of traditional bottling methods. Vina Dornberg gained recognition at an international tourism fair.
A special production of 2,000 bottles was prepared for the then-President of Slovenia, Janez Drnovšek.
The wines officially began to be marketed under the Vina Dornberg brand.
Grand Gold Medal: Beli Pinot Barrique 2002 & Gold Medal: Beli Pinot 2006
Sauvignon 2006 received a Decanter award, becoming the first wine released under the Vina Dornberg brand to achieve this recognition.
Sauvignon 2008 received a Silver Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
The winery had received more than 200 awards by 2018.
